How Our Christian Drug Rehab is Different
For nearly 60 years, Teen Challenge rehab centers for men have helped tens of thousands of individuals on their journey to recovery. We are the largest and longest-running group of addiction recovery centers in the world, with over 200 centers in the U.S. and more than 1,000 centers worldwide.
Jacksonville Men’s Rehab, a part of Teen Challenge, is an affordable program to help men aged 18 and older recover from addiction and alcohol issues. Our program lasts for a year and offers various forms of support, like talking to peers, group and one-on-one counseling, parenting classes, spiritual guidance, relapse prevention, anger management, learning about drugs and alcohol, fun activities, and help with finding work.
Our rehab center is only for men and is a safe, clean, and healthy place where we help people with their addictions. Our staff cares and understands what it’s like because many went through similar addiction recovery programs. We treat everyone with kindness and respect. If someone wants our help, they must stick with our plan for a year to learn new life skills and recover.
Our Jacksonville rehab center focuses on making real changes in people’s lives. We want to help them stay away from drugs and alcohol for the long term, even after they leave our program, even when things get tough.
People often start using drugs or alcohol because they’re trying to fill a hole inside themselves, like needing love, success, forgiveness, belonging, acceptance, a sense of purpose, or something spiritual. These substances might make them feel better, but they can become dependent on them, making it hard to stop. Trying to quit can lead to painful or dangerous withdrawal symptoms.
Once addiction takes over, it can control a person’s life, making it tough to quit on their own, and it can lead to problems like stealing or selling drugs, which can get them in trouble with the law. People often need more and more substance to get the same feeling, which can lead to overdosing or harming their bodies.
Without a new mindset and life focus to fill the void, the addict will repeatedly return to their addiction, ravaging their relationships, trustworthiness, career, finances, and physical and mental health. The addiction will utterly destroy them.

Why a Year Matters in Recovery
Our rehab center takes up to a year because it’s about more than quick fixes. Short-term rehabs often don’t work because they don’t address the real issues behind addiction.
Short-term programs are convenient, but they rarely provide lasting results. Insurance usually only covers the first 90 days, leading to a cycle of short stays that don’t solve the problem. In contrast, Teen Challenge rehab centers for men are affordable and focus on lasting recovery. With community support, we have the time to help each person truly change their life.
Our commitment to long-term recovery sets us apart and makes us successful.
Why Addiction Recovery Takes a Full Year
The journey to recovery begins with detox, a process that aims to cleanse the body of substances and break their immediate hold on the individual. This step alone can stretch over several weeks or months, depending on the substance, in a closely monitored and daily tested setting. Withdrawal during this period can be extremely challenging, uncomfortable, and sometimes even hazardous.
Once detox is complete, the real work starts. However, lasting change can’t be achieved through just a few days or weeks of counseling. True transformation unfolds daily, over many months, as individuals immerse themselves in an environment where their negative behaviors and motivations are consistently challenged. Mistakes are made and corrected, with staff and peers providing valuable guidance. Time, combined with the wisdom of our staff and spiritual renewal, becomes the most potent tool in our arsenal.
At Jacksonville Men’s Rehab, we focus on rebuilding individuals from the inside out. Addicts learn to take responsibility for their actions, find solutions, and avoid repeating past mistakes. Peers who have been in the program longer naturally become mentors, offering support and guidance to newer residents, creating a community that uplifts and guides each other.
Finding Freedom Through Faith
For those battling addiction, repeated failures can shatter their confidence, making them realize that they can’t overcome it alone. They often feel inadequate and burdened by guilt from past mistakes. That’s why, right from the beginning of our program, we stress the importance of turning to a “higher power.”
Building a personal relationship with Jesus Christ can profoundly change an addict’s life. We all need help transforming our hearts, and we find that help by reaching out to our Creator. Christ and the Holy Spirit become constant companions, bringing peace, fulfillment, kindness, truthfulness, and a strong desire to break free from addiction.
As addicts understand that Jesus Christ accepts them as they are and forgives them completely, they gain newfound hope. They begin to see themselves as worthy of a fresh start because the Creator of the Universe has granted forgiveness and lifted a heavy burden. This sparks a strong desire to seek forgiveness from others and offer help in return, which is a significant step forward. Through Christ, they find the strength and determination to seek forgiveness from those they’ve hurt. Surprisingly, many are willing to forgive when they witness the positive changes in the addict’s attitude and behavior, providing tremendous relief.
Restoring Truth in the Addict’s Journey
One common thread among all addicts is their proficiency in deception—whether to friends, employers, family, or themselves. They often avoid taking responsibility for their actions, preferring to shift blame. Introducing Christ into their lives also means reintroducing truth, a concept lost. With many of our staff being former addicts themselves, they can discern the falsehoods, making truth and transparency a central focus moving forward. While it’s often taught firmly, it’s always approached with acceptance, understanding, and care.
Over time, the addict or alcoholic realizes that the only way to live truly is by abandoning their habitual lies and embracing a life based on truth with the support of Christ.
Turning Change into Action
After several months at our Jacksonville men’s rehab center, residents have achieved sobriety, found a connection with God, and started being more honest with themselves and others. But they still need a clear path forward to avoid returning to their old ways.
Our program now focuses on introducing positive elements into their lives, like helping others, showing kindness, finding work, and learning to be responsible. There’s still a gap in their lives when figuring out their future and what they want to do with their lives, so we put in several months of hard work.
We help them gain confidence, learn new skills, and find a job they like. At first, they do community service together in groups, which teaches them to be humble and makes them feel good about what they do daily. They also watch out for each other and ensure everyone stays on the right track. Over time, they start looking for a job they enjoy and can do well, especially if they didn’t have one before. Our rehab center helps them get started on this new path in life.
Affordable Addiction Recovery, Thanks to Community Support
You might wonder why we can keep our fees so low at Teen Challenge Jacksonville’s men’s rehab center. It’s all thanks to the incredible support we receive from the community. While we charge a bit for tuition, it only covers a small part of our expenses. With nearly 60 years of proof that our program works, the community is firmly behind us.
The community truly appreciates our success in helping individuals break free from addiction and become productive and caring members of society. Their support reflects their gratitude for the positive changes we bring to people’s lives.

-
Personal Growth
We help the addict sprout new leaves and grow a new life, free of addiction and the pain that led them to their addiction. We are all about planting the seeds of new life and helping the individual grow into a new creature in Christ.
-
Vocationally Focused
We teach humility, care, trustworthiness, and the traits of a good worker. We help the former addict find a new vocation and rebuild their future. Having a strong plan keeps the individual excited about life and self-supporting.
